Roadtrip in southern Sweden

Roadtrip in Southern Sweden – May 2026 A slow journey through the south east Sweden. In the early days of summer, when the forests are glowing green and the evenings seem endless, we set out with a tent, a camera, and no hurry. This road trip takes us along winding backroads through Blekinge and Småland, exploring places where history, nature, and stories still linger in the landscape. We visit Kristianopel, the old Renaissance fortress town by the Baltic Sea, where centuries-old stone walls face the water and narrow lanes lead through a village shaped by the border wars between Denmark and Sweden. Once a fortified outpost, today it rests peacefully beneath the summer sun. Further north, we spend time around Revsudden, where the sea, rocky shores, and open horizons create the feeling of standing at the edge of Scandinavia. The Baltic is never far away, and every sunset paints the coastline in new colors. The journey continues into the forests and villages of Ljuder, the landscape that inspired the great Swedish author Vilhelm Moberg. These are the woods, fields, and stone-covered farms that gave life to The Emigrants — stories of hope, hardship, longing, and the dream of a better future. The spirit of Småland still feels present here, among the red cottages, lakes, and quiet gravel roads. Along the way we sleep in a tent, wake up with birdsong, cook outdoors, and follow the rhythm of long Nordic days. No schedules, no destinations that cannot wait — just the freedom of the road, the scent of pine forests, and the beauty of a Swedish summer beginning. Thank you for coming along on this adventure. 🌲🏕️🚗🇸🇪
