La Historia Real del Ángel de la Independencia | Lo que Hay Debajo del Monumento | 1910 d.C.

Mexico's most recognizable symbol has an underground chamber containing the bones of the heroes of Independence. Bones that were left mixed together on the ground in 1957 after an earthquake toppled the sculpture and opened the urns. The remains of Hidalgo, Morelos, and ten other heroes are literally jumbled together. The forensic experts who worked on the restoration were only able to partially reassign the bones to each urn. There's more. The Angel of Independence sank more than 3 meters in less than 50 years—the 23 steps you climb to reach the base were added after the inauguration to cover the subsidence. The avenue where it stands was built by Maximilian of Habsburg to connect his palace to the city center. And the golden figure you see is partly the original from 1910 and partly a 1958 reconstruction. The monument that Mexicans surround to celebrate every victory has a story that no one tells when they light the flares. 📌 Subscribe to The Unknown Roots and turn on notifications. 🔔 More videos from the channel: ▸ The True History of the Zócalo | What Lies Buried Beneath Your Feet ▸ The True History of the Alameda Central ▸ The National Palace | What Cortés Built on Moctezuma's Palace 📚 Sources: ▸ INAH — Historical File of the Monument to Independence ▸ General Archive of the Nation — Centennial Records 1910 ▸ Ministry of Culture — Restorations of the Angel 1957-1958 and 2010 ▸ Antonio Rivas Mercado — Memoirs of the Original Architectural Project Hashtags: #AngelOfIndependence #HistoryOfMexico #MexicoCity #Independence #PaseoDeLaReforma #TheUnknownRoots #HiddenMexico #HistoricalDocumentary #TrueHistory #Monument
