Michael Schmücker has consistently developed his farm: Since 2017, as a certified organic farm, he has focused entirely on animal welfare – because the animals' performance begins with their well-being. In addition to 6,000 laying hens, he keeps around 120 cattle, including about 60 fattening bulls. The new bull barn was planned with clear objectives: animal-friendly husbandry, efficient workflows, and a future-proof design. The entire concept was implemented in collaboration with PATURA and the dealer Im Moore Landtechnik. The barn meets the requirements of Bioland and EU organic standards and impresses with well-thought-out details: An open roof serves as a year-round exercise yard, providing fresh air and movement. Spring-loaded bull brushes promote animal welfare and coat care. PATURA's height-adjustable feed table partitions can be flexibly adapted and grow with the animals. Sensibly arranged partitions and gates ensure the animals are moved safely and stress-free. Drinking troughs with a circulating heating system and heating ensure a water supply even in winter. Also a focus: efficient work processes. Bedding is added from the rear, the bulls distribute the straw themselves, and thanks to the deep-litter system, they move the manure to the front – where it is efficiently removed by a scraper. This saves time, reduces labor, and ensures greater safety in the barn.
