In a year, it will be 20 years since Amit received the news that changed her life. Her brother, the late Tam, was killed in a helicopter crash – and from that moment on, her memories became hazy. “I remember the moment they told me,” she says. “But childhood memories? They almost don’t exist. I remember mostly from movies and pictures. I don’t really have any memories of a family with three siblings.” The loss left a deep mark, but in recent years Amit and her family have had to deal with protests held outside their home that were allegedly organized by the Prime Minister’s wife. Amidst all the upheaval, what keeps Amit going is the family she created for herself with her husband Yair and their two children, with a love that from the very first moment felt like home.
