When you look at your friends, some say they have already bought a house, while others say they have earned tens of millions of won through stocks. Then, some articles claim the average assets have exceeded 600 million won. It makes you feel incredibly anxious, wondering if what you have is even average, and if your family is financially sound. The problem, however, is that the people we are comparing ourselves to aren't the real average. What you see on social media is all about the top few percent. So today, using the most recent data released by Statistics Korea in December 2025, I have compiled the true average net assets by age group in South Korea. From those in their 30s to those over 60, seeing how much your peers actually possess might bring you reassurance, or conversely, serve as a bit of a stimulus. I will also discuss things that are more important than this average number.
