Rock With You by Michael Jackson, bass line
I'm playing the bass line to Rock With You by Michael Jackson on a 5 string American Fender Jazz bass. (Yeah, I realize Bobby Watson was playing a 4 string, tuned down a half step... so much fun on 5 though!) There's so much to learn from the chorus-centric song structure here, replete with gospel-style modulation! BW sprinkles tasty fills at strategic points throughout the form like some kind of wizard genius. Dude is all over this era of music (Quincy Jones loved him). He takes the Jamerson hell-of-pocket Motown style even further, acknowledging the awesome funk that had been brewing in the late 70s. Hope you enjoy it...I sure enjoyed playing it :)
