Desky Sit-Standing Desk: Solid Engineering or Just Hype?

G’day guys. This video is a bit of a departure from the usual tracks and diff locks. Before we can get out remote to film the adventures, we spend a massive amount of time in the office editing. I’ve been looking to upgrade the workstation that I share with the kids, specifically to break up the long hours of sitting. 00:00 - Intro 00:22 - Bennefits of a Sit-Stand Desk 00:47 - Why Desky 01:24 - My messy old Set-Up 04:15 - What I like 05:33 - The Accessories 07:27 - What to consider before purchase 11:16 - My Conclusion Why the Change? There is plenty of research suggesting that alternating between sitting and standing improves circulation and keeps muscles engaged. After seeing the ads and doing my own research, I reached out to Desky. They sent over a unit for testing, but as always, this is a full disclosure review—I’m giving you the facts, not a sales pitch. Key Features & Specs We set up the Desky Dual Motor desk. Here are the hard numbers: Height Range: 60cm to 125cm. Load Capacity: 140kg (It’s so robust it could probably double as scaffolding). Speed: A controlled 3.6cm per second. Stability: Three-stage telescopic legs mean zero wobble, even at full height. Real-World Application & Testing Our setup isn’t light. We run two 32-inch monitors, a Mac Studio, eight external hard drives, and various peripherals. The goal wasn’t just ergonomics; it was to solve the absolute cable nightmare underneath the desk. Using the cable management tray and the 10-outlet power system, we managed to hide the mess almost completely. The Verdict (Pros & Cons) The build quality is excellent, and the dual motor system lifts my heavy rig without struggling. It’s quiet enough not to be intrusive. However, it’s not perfect. The menu buttons on the controller can be a bit temperamental, and the settings mode times out faster than I’d like. Also, be prepared to buy longer cables if you have a complex setup—physics still applies when the desk goes up. Conclusion Overall, it’s a solid piece of kit that has genuinely improved our workflow. If you have a heavy editing rig and need flexibility, it’s worth a look.
