Handcrafting a Dutch-Style Falconry Hood with Python Embossed Leather With a TWIST

In this video, I take on something completely new for me—creating a falconry hood for a retail hawk. This is my first-ever attempt at making a hood, and I went with a Dutch-style design, but added my own creative twist. The hood features python embossed brown leather running up the center, paired with black leather side panels, all brought together with black baseball stitching. The contrast between textures and colors gives the hood a bold but clean look while still respecting traditional falconry design. While the finished hood turned out really nice, this project was also a learning experience. I can already see areas where future hoods can be improved, and that growth is part of what makes handmade craftsmanship so rewarding. This build was all about stepping outside my comfort zone, experimenting with materials, and learning through the process.
