Here's what makes this leader so uniquely dangerous — every Character Luffy controls gets +1 cost, meaning his pieces hit harder than they have any right to at their DON!! investment. And the engine that powers it all? Every time 2 or more DON!! cards on his field return to the DON!! deck during his turn, Luffy recovers one active DON!! AND one rested DON!! straight back from the deck. The more DON!! he spends and recycles, the more resources he generates. His turns never end the way they started. That's the nightmare for Teach. Redirect costs a Trigger card every time. But if Luffy is generating DON!! faster than Teach can drain his hand of Triggers — who actually runs out of resources first? Teach wants to redirect every attack and grind out value through Blackbeard Pirates bodies and On K.O. effects. Luffy wants to cycle DON!! as aggressively as possible, deploy overcosted threats ahead of curve, and build a board that Teach's redirect wall simply cannot keep pace with.
