The Mysterious History of the Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple in Vivek Vihar, Delhi. #temple #rehash 🙏🙏 The Shri Sankat Mochan Hanuman Balaji Temple, located in Vivek Vihar, Delhi, is one of the most famous and magnificent temples in East Delhi. This temple is known not only for its spiritual energy but also for its unique architecture. 1. History The story of the establishment of this magnificent temple is very sacred. In 1996, Shri Vinod Bindal received inspiration (a divine message) to build a grand temple for social welfare and service to the poor and needy. Subsequently, through the tireless efforts of local citizens, social workers, and then-public representatives, land was obtained from the Delhi government. Construction of the temple began with the groundbreaking ceremony on April 10, 1998, and the court of Hanuman Balaji Maharaj was established here. 2. Features & Architecture The magnificent statue of pure silver: The most striking feature of this temple is the magnificent statue of Hanuman Ji, made of 40 kg of pure silver. This unique statue was created in the year 2000 by skilled artisans from Varanasi. Anointing Tradition: While other Balaji temples in the country typically only offer a chola (a sacred thread), this temple in Vivek Vihar performs a daily dudhbhishek (a ritual bath with milk, yogurt, ghee, honey, and Ganges water) for Hanumanji, with full rituals and chanting of mantras. Hanumanji is considered the 11th Rudra incarnation of Lord Shiva, so performing the anointment here is considered to be the same as performing the anointment of Mahakal Shiva. Rajasthan Marble Carvings: Spread over approximately 12,000 square feet, this temple is constructed using premium Rajasthani white marble. The carvings on the temple walls and pillars are remarkable. Darshan of various deities: In addition to the main sanctum sanctorum, there are beautiful statues of Lord Shri Ram, Sita, Lakshman, the Shiva family (including Kartikeya and Nandi), Goddess Durga, Khatu Shyam Ji, and Bharat Mata. Additionally, beautiful marble sculptures depicting Hanuman flying over the Dronagiri (Sanjeevani) mountain have been carved. Tulsi Park and Kalpataru: A serene park filled with sacred Tulsi plants has been created within the temple complex. The temple also features a Kalpataru (wish-fulfilling tree) symbol, under which devotees sit and pray. 3. Mysteries & Beliefs Sacred Symbol of Shakti: The temple has a special symbol that includes the trident, damaru (symbols of Shiva and the Mother Goddess), arrows, and the Sudarshan Chakra (symbols of Vishnu's incarnations), and the mace and conch (the presence of Hanuman). Relief from suffering and fulfillment of desires: It is believed that if a devotee comes here with a true heart and chants the name of Hanuman Balaji, "Om Paap Samharay Namah," 108 times and circumambulates the temple four times, all the troubles, diseases, and obstacles in his life are removed. Swamani: Upon the fulfillment of a wish, devotees offer "Swamani" (special offering) to Sankatmochan, which is later distributed among devotees and the weaker sections of society. A sacred Dhuni is also present here. 4. How to Reach: Vivek Vihar is located very close to the border of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh (Ghaziabad), so all modes of transportation are easily available here. Nearest Metro Station: Dilshad Garden Metro Station (Red Line) and Anand Vihar Metro Station (Blue Line and Pink Line) are the nearest. From here, you can easily reach the temple (near Agrasen Bhawan / Arwachin Bharti Bhawan School) in 5-10 minutes by e-rickshaw or auto. Nearest Railway Station: Anand Vihar Terminal (ANVT): It is just 2 to 2.5 km from the temple. If you are coming from outside Delhi, it is most convenient to get off at Anand Vihar. Old Delhi Railway Station (DLI): The distance from here is approximately 8.5 km. New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS): The distance from here to the temple is approximately 14 km.
