Mercedes Vito CDI turbo diesel engine squeal / exhaust manifold gasket leak

Ok so, after much much research into this nasty squeal that started appearing on my 2013 113CDI Mercedes Vito van I wasn’t actually able to come up with any definitive answers. The closest I got was a video describing the exhaust turbo gasket, describing a leak there and to tighten the three bolts. So I did that and it didn’t help. So I got into pulling the engine apart, and found a ton of soot deposit on the side of the engine..... problem found. Cylinder 1 was leaking exhaust at the exhaust manifold - the gasket had failed. So why did the gasket fail..... well the pressure on the turbo manifold has been so much that it caused the manifold to warp, therefore stretching the manifold head bolts, therefore creating a gap and a leakage at the gasket. I had two choices - either machine the manifold or pack out the extra distance between the head and the manifold. To do this I actually used tin snips to cut apart the old gasket into 4 sections. I then used section 1 and section 4 of the old gasket, and added them to the brand new gasket between the manifold and the head, then tightened it all up. It worked, no issues now, no hiss, no squeal, nothing. Van back to normal. I hope this helps folks out.
