Generations of Western Motive Power
One of the most enterprising films I've made so far. This film I made is about three successfull generations of western motive power that ran on the Western Region of BR, between 1948 and 1965. GWR King Class 6024 King Edward I, the GWR's most powerful 4-6-0, built 1930, runs along its former home territory with the Torbay Express from Bristol to Kingswear and return on August 24th. Built at Swindon in 1963, Western hydraulic D1015 Western Champion masquerading as "D1005 Western Venturer" trottles along its home route to Dartmouth for the reggata, hauling authentic chocolate and cream stock in recreation of the early 1960s. It creates its big maybach music as it thrashes its way out of Yatton and Paignton! Brush Traction Class 47 47773 in BR two-tone green livery also hauls a railtour from Tyseley to Dartmouth, behind it is a West Coast Railways Class 33. The Class 47 and a small number of others were innitially based on the Western Region during the early days. Oddly enough after catching the 47 at Goodrington bank I managed to beat it to Paignton by my bicycle, as it got holded up outside of Paignton station for clearences!
