Miami Hurricanes BEAT Wake Forest 42-14 behind defensive revival + strong running game

The Miami Hurricanes’ defense responded well from adversity in their 42-14 win over Wake Forest! Miami had been gashed by opposing offenses in recent games, but this time around, the defense only gave up 7 points and managed to pitch a second half shutout against the Demon Deacons. In a game when the Hurricanes’ passing offense wasn’t up to their usual standard, the defense and the running game were able to set the tone. Freshman sensation running back Jordan Lyle went off for 115 yards and a touchdown on just seven carries. Damien Martinez and Mark Fletcher also played well. The Canes defense was led by safety Meesh Powell along with defensive linemen Ahmad Moten, Akheem Mesidor and Rueben Bain. The Hurricanes held Wake Forest to just 99 passing yards and 199 total yards. Miami QB Cam Ward threw for 280 yards with 3 total touchdowns. Jacolby George and Elijah Arroyo had big impacts in the receiving game. The Hurricanes control their own destiny for the ACC Championship and the College Football Playoff. If Miami beats Syracuse next week, they’ll punch their ticket to face SMU for the conference title.
