The horizontal projection is obtained by looking at an object so that the rays from the eye to each line on the top of the object are both vertical and perpendicular to the object itself. The left lateral projection is obtained by looking at an object so that the rays from the eye to each line on the right lateral surface of the object are both horizontal and perpendicular to the right side of the object. These three projections are the most commonly used.
