Drunk Driver Rear-Ended Traffic Texting Her Ex, Then She Left The Scene of The Crime

On March 28, 2025, deputies responded to a chain-reaction crash after a driver slammed into stopped traffic at the intersection. Witnesses said the at-fault driver got out of her white Toyota noticeably impaired, kept repeating "this is my fault," and then walked off into a nearby Walgreens before deputies arrived. When deputies located her, she admitted she had been texting her ex and looked down at her phone when the light turned green. One driver was transported to the hospital with neck injuries. An elderly passenger was left shaken. Deputies noted an odor of alcohol and signs of impairment. What followed was a back-and-forth field sobriety attempt marked by an emotional spiral and repeated refusals. She was ultimately charged with DUI and leaving the scene of a crash with injuries.
