Making a Stone Aged Sgian Dubh w/ The Urban-Aboriginal

In this video, I formed a blade made of the volcanic glass (obsidian) to make the famous or infamous knife called a Sgian Dubh (pronounced ski-an doo or skee-an-doo) It worn as part of #Highland dress, tucked into the top of the #kilt hose. It translates from Scottish Gaelic as "black knife," with "dubh" meaning "black" or "hidden," reflecting its historical use as a concealed utility and defensive blade. I show how to make and haft a handle to the stone blade, as well as make a rawhide sheath.
