Following the widening escalation between the United States and Iran, Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei said that the violation of the memorandum of understanding signed between Tehran and Washington proved the "worthlessness and lack of credibility of the American president's signature," as he put it. Khamenei added, in a written message published on his account on the "X" platform and reported by Iranian media on Saturday, that what he described as the "repeated breach" by the United States of its commitments under the memorandum of understanding reflects that "domination, hegemony and brutality" are part of the American approach. He also accused the United States of "breaking its promises" and "lacking credibility," asserting that recent developments have revealed its "true face." Mojtaba, who has not appeared in public since his appointment last March, addressed the Iranian public, stating that "maintaining unity, avoiding division and conflict, and steering clear of political disputes and highlighting social differences is a collective responsibility." He emphasized that the responsibility of Iranian officials in "preserving the country's cohesion and unity is of paramount importance and sensitivity."
