Branches Without Roots

In Episode 5, we're talking about what happens when we want peace, joy, purpose, wisdom, intimacy, and spiritual growth, but neglect the relationship with Jesus that actually produces those things. We explore the difference between branches and roots. Branches are the things people can see: church attendance, serving, Bible knowledge, Christian language, leadership, and influence. Roots are the things people don't see: prayer, dependence on God, abiding in Christ, surrender, trust, and intimacy with Jesus. In this conversation, we discuss: • Why we often want the fruit but not the process • Whether we can expect spiritual fruit without spiritual roots • Seasons when we don't feel close to God • What to do when God feels distant • Spiritual numbness, distraction, busyness, and self-dependence • The difference between God's presence and our awareness of His presence • What a rooted life actually looks like Maybe the question isn't: How can I produce more fruit? Maybe the better question is: How connected am I to Jesus? Fruit isn't something we force. Fruit is something that grows and it grows when roots go deep. What would change in your life if your primary goal this week wasn't to do something for God, but simply to be with Him?
