Lincoln Versailles - Built to take on BMW, Audi, & Mercedes

In May of 1975 Cadillac released the Seville as a 1976 model. This was smaller luxury car that was built to compete with the smaller luxury sedans coming in from Europe. The Mercedes, BMW, and Audi. In what has to be a described as a knee jerk reaction Lincoln grabbed a Mercury Monarch Ghia which was the top of line Monarch and added a couple Lincoln styling cues and badges on it, dumped a ton of options on it as standard features and named it after a Palace in France. Yes today we are taking a looking at the Lincoln Versailles. The question is would the America Public jump on board with this smaller Lincoln or would they reject it?
