While egrets are native to the region, little black cormorants were first sighted there only about a decade ago. Based on observations at several locations, egrets and little black cormorants generally prefer to nest in mangrove trees situated in areas surrounded by fishponds, rice fields, and wetlands extending to the coast. The best times to observe these two types of birds are in the morning and at dusk as they return to their nests in the mangrove trees; at these moments, one is left awestruck and enchanted, entertained by the orchestral chorus of nature's songs that they perform. Penguasa kehidupan di hutan mangrove di pesisir timur Aceh di huni oleh kuntul dan pecuk hitam, populasi mereka luar biasa, berkembang biak dengan sempurna, kuntul adalah endemik asli burung di wilayah ini, sedangkan pecuk hitam baru terlihat sekitar 10 tahun yang lalu. Dari beberapa titik pengamatan, secara umum tempat favorit kuntul dan pecuk hitam membuat sarang yaitu di pohon bakau dimana lingkungan disekitarnya adalah pertambakan, sawah dan lahan basah sampai ke pesisir pantai. Waktu yang paling tepat mengamati ke dua jenis burung ini adalah di pagi hari dan menjelang malam saat mereka kembali ke sarangnya di pohon bakau, pada saat tersebut kita akan takjub dan terpesona melihatnya sambil terhibur oleh suara orkestra nyayian alam yang mereka kumandangkan.
