Neti Neti — Sanskrit for "not this, not that." This is one of the oldest contemplative practices in the Vedantic tradition. Not a practice of finding. A practice of releasing — gently setting down everything you have been told you are, layer by layer, until what remains is so simple, so present, so quietly unmistakable that no further searching is needed. In this guided meditation we move through eight layers: Possessions & Circumstances Roles & Identity The Body Thoughts & Beliefs Emotions The Senses The Ego — the sense of "I" Pure Consciousness — the light that illumines all experience Note: This is a contemporary adaptation of the ancient Vedantic Neti Neti inquiry. The traditional practice, as taught by Ramana Maharshi, is a more direct self-inquiry — "Who am I?"
