This was action in the final eight players of the 2023 International Open 9-Ball event, to determine who would move on to the final day of play. Alex “The Lion” Pagulayan is no stranger to the final rounds of any pool tournament. He is a crowd favorite and has won just about every title the game has to offer. He was inducted into the BCA Hall of Fame in 2019. Gerson Martinez, the pride of Peru, had recently won the Texas Open and was a former Pan American Champion. On paper, Pagulayan is supposed to be a big favorite in this match, the Up and Coming player from Peru gave the Lion everything he could stand in this pivotal match.
