First broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in December 1983, the story follows Detective Chief Inspector (DCI) Turner—originally played by Geoffrey Hinsliff—and Constable Wilkinson, played by Russell Dixon. The original radio play is an atmospheric, suspenseful classic from the era of BBC afternoon plays. The narrative is divided into multiple parts. It begins as what appears to be an ordinary case for the police. However, it quickly delves into psychological twists, tense interrogations, and unexpected motives as DCI Turner works to solve a murder case.
