What Happens After Sheep Shearing? | Skirting British Wool Fleece

Ever wondered what happens after sheep are shorn? In this short behind-the-scenes video, I take you to our smallholding in Sussex where I show you one of the very first stages in producing our British wool yarn: **skirting the fleece**. You'll see: • Our Romney sheep before and after shearing • A glimpse of the shearing process • How we skirt each fleece by removing the less desirable wool • What happens to the leftover fleece (nothing goes to waste—we use it as mulch and compost around the smallholding!) • A visit to our local spinning mill in Horam • A first look at a brand new batch of yarn, including wool from local Sussex smallholders and fleece from Ernie the alpaca. At Small Flock Yarns, we're passionate about supporting local shepherds and producing small-batch British yarn with full traceability wherever possible. Every stage of the journey helps tell the story behind each skein. If you enjoy seeing where your yarn comes from, I'd love for you to subscribe and follow along as we continue documenting the journey from sheep to finished yarn. 🌿 Website: https://www.smallflockyarns.com 📷 Instagram: @smallflockyarnsuk Lastly, here is the link to the video where I knitted a sweater with Lolly's wool:    • From Fleece to Sweater | Designing & Knitt...   Thank you so much for watching and supporting British wool.
