Aprilia Caponord Dash has left me in the Dark. part 1

when powering up the dash the other day when it was cold all I got was the neutral light and oil light , I would have had the stand light but it was bypassed . No millage no illumination lights no temps ,fuel ,indicators,efi,clock, you get the picture.😞. I contacted Karl who I had met on a Caponord rally last year and he talked me through some diagnostic voltage checks etc. The dash passed these external checks flying colours. I then started stripping it in the warm house and just thought let's plug it back into the bike and it fired up just like before when ok millage etc displayed . So after being put in the deep freeze for 20 mins and plugged back into the bike you can see what happened by my thumbnail pic the dash was dead again , so temperature related. Back talking to Karl he advised me the left capacitor (16v 47uf) on the PCB powers the clock as long as the bike battery is connected and what I had proved was a sign of it failing which is a common problem. So the PCB has been stripped down now and been given to one of my sons Richard to replace the tiny capacitor stay tuned to see if this works I really hope so.
