Catholic Mass Today | Sunday April 5, 2026 | CatholicTV Daily Mass
Alleluia! Join The CatholicTV Network for the joyous and central celebration of our faith: Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord. We invite you to enter into these sacred mysteries with shouts of peace and joy as we proclaim the definitive victory of Jesus over death. In today’s celebratory liturgy, Bishop Robert P. Reed invites us to begin "50 days of new life" in the Risen Christ. Reflecting on the empty tomb and the apostolic witness, we are reminded that through the Easter solemnity, God defends us from every assault of sin and restores us to immortality. This Mass is a powerful invitation to celebrate the Paschal Feast with gladness, allowing the light of the Resurrection to transform our lives and fill us with the promise of eternal glory. The Scriptures highlight the apostolic testimony and the discovery of the empty tomb: -The First Reading (Acts 10:34a, 37-43): Peter proclaims the Good News to Cornelius and his household, testifying how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power. He witnesses that although Jesus was put to death by hanging on a tree, God raised Him on the third day, and the Apostles—who ate and drank with Him after His resurrection—are commissioned to preach that He is the judge of the living and the dead. -The Responsorial Psalm (Ps 118): A song of triumph: "This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad". -The Second Reading (Colossians 3:1-4): St. Paul exhorts the faithful to "think of what is above," for having died and been raised with Christ, our lives are now hidden with Him in God until we appear with Him in glory. -The Holy Gospel (John 20:1-9): Early on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene discovers the stone has been removed from the tomb. Peter and the "other disciple" run to the site, finding the burial cloths positioned in a way that reveals a miraculous exit. The Scripture notes that the beloved disciple "saw and believed," for they did not yet fully understand the prophecy that Jesus had to rise from the dead. May the blessing of Almighty God descend upon you this Easter and protect you from every assault of sin through the prize of immortality.
