Vevor 4 in 1 Hat Press - Unboxing and First Hats

You might be wondering… what does a heat press have to do with “Hobo With Wood” and “Fun With Lasers”? Well, we’re going to be using the Roly laser to make custom leather patches for hats, and this press will let us attach them perfectly. First, we need to see what came in the box and how to set it up. Inside, we’ve got the user manual — important since I’ve never used one of these before — plus four different platens for different hat sizes, including the one already installed. It’s well-packed and requires almost no assembly. There’s a digital display, a simple lock screw for swapping platens, and a nice, solid build. Let’s plug it in. The default setting is 150°F and 20 seconds. To change between Fahrenheit and Celsius, hold the up and down arrows next to the temperature button for about 3 seconds, then tap the temp button to toggle. Setting temperature or time is just a matter of pressing the right button, adjusting, and pressing again to lock it in. This press holds your hat tight using a lever clamp — perfect for keeping it centered and wrinkle-free. Since it only heats from the top, I’ll be preheating hats before pressing patches to remove wrinkles and help the adhesive bond. Now for the fun part — making patches. I made two: a smaller one for a youth hat and a larger one for a high-quality embroidered hat. I preheated the hats, positioned the patches, and pressed at 300°F for 30 seconds. For this experiment, I didn’t use heat tape, but everything stayed in place. The results look great — even the youth hat came out clean and tight. Changing platens is simple: loosen the thumb screw, slide the old one out, drop in the new size, and tighten it — just don’t overtighten into the plastic. The embroidered excavator hat turned out especially nice. This is a high-dollar hat that could easily sell for $30 with the patch added. Not bad for my first try with an entry-level press. If you’re looking to start making your own custom hat patches, this machine is an affordable way to get started, and it did a great job. I’ll drop links for both the press and the work table in the description. Got tips, tricks, or questions? Leave them in the comments — I’m still learning, and I’d love to hear from you. I’m Steve, Hobo With Wood — and now, Hat Patches. See you in the next video!
