My career as a shoemaker began when I attended a shoe vocational school and was taught by three shoemakers, and the second of them taught me, and I met Masatoshi Sato, the previous owner of Hudson Shoe Store. Mr. Sato made shoes for many famous people, including former Prime Minister Shigeru Yoshida and Yujiro Ishihara, and was the only shoemaker in Yokohama to have received awards such as a letter of thanks from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry and the Tokyo Governor's Award. I was very happy to have been able to learn real shoemaking techniques from such a former owner, and I became even more absorbed in the world of shoemakers, and now I repair shoes for everyone as the second generation owner of Hudson Shoe Store. Hudson Shoe Store has been repairing shoes in Yokohama for 60 years, from 1961 to the present. The shoe repair industry has become more mechanized, and shoe repair shops run by shoe craftsmen are becoming fewer. However, there are people who need shoe repairs that can only be done by hand and that skill. At Hudson Shoe Store, we are committed to our niche position, and we are proud of it.
