‘It’s super exciting’ to contemplate the Vicuña copper district’s potential — Filo CEO Jamie Beck

The Vicuña copper belt, which extends from Chile to Argentina, initially hosted up to 16 soil sampling anomalies. The fact that there have been five major discoveries, including Filo del Sol, suggests a bright future for the region, says Filo Corp’s (TSX:FIL) CEO Jamie Beck. Beck spoke to Kitco mid-September at the Gold Forum Americas 2023 held in Colorado Springs, CO. “Are these the best five and what else is out there? That is what's super exciting about this district,” Beck said. “We've got projects at various stages so some construction-ready like Jose Maria, some in production like Casserones, and development and exploration assets that we hold in Filo and as well as NGX, so it’s going to be really exciting to see how it all pulls together. I don't have a crystal ball, but I think there's likely to be regional consolidation.” The company has been expanding Filo del Sol northward and there may also be potential to the east. “Through some of the discoveries we made last year specifically to the north in an area that we call Bonita, our original geological interpretation was that it may have been a separate new zone or a new porphyry intrusive,” Beck explained. “Through the geophysics work, through the drill bit, what we're learning at Filo is in fact there are no zones, it seems to be continuously mineralized from Tamberias in the south through Bonita to the north, which is about five kilometres. And then excitingly through geophysics as well as the drill bit we think we’ve found a new trend along the eastern part of the deposit.
