-website: https://www.sheridan.church Revelation 14:1 Lamb = Preferred Title of Jesus We like Lion but Christ prefers Lamb (28x in Revelation) It is an emphasis on the Atoning Work of Christ Mt. Zion = Jerusalem John is getting a preview of the Return of Christ which actually happens in Revelation 19 Revelation 14 is not Chronological. We've seen this before. John is seeing ahead to the Return of Christ to Jerusalem and notice who is described to be with Him 144,000 Seal on their forehead that protects them They are all the Tribes of Israel In Revelation 14 we are given more info about the 144,000 Revelation 14:2-5 Few more things we learn about these 144,000 1. They did not defile themselves with women (Virgins) Could mean celebate but probably not God often refers to the nation of Israel as Virgin Israel The Church is also referred to as a Virgin Idolatry is spiritual adultery These 144,000 have not engaged in idolatry 2. They followed the Lamb without question This means they are obedient 3. They have no lies on their lips Their mouths were tamed 4. They are blameless Not sinless but blameless They have been redeemed by the Lamb Revelation 14:6-7 Announcement #1 - Gospel This is incredible Never happened before or after Gospel is entrusted to people to share Why an angel? Church is raptured and Tribulation Saints are martyred There's an absence of the proclamation of the Gospel God cares and loves for people so much that He dispatches an Angel Everyone will hear the Gospel Every nation, tribe, language and people Every person will be reached This is the end right? Yet God is still pursuing people Grasp the heart of God here God is so passionate about the Gospel and so should we Sometimes God has to allow the heat to be turned up for some people to repent I know I had to hit rock bottom at 17 to surrender This is the last and final call Couple things to note here The Gospel is ETERNAL The Gospel is UNIVERSAL What was the message of the Angel? This should inform our preaching Fear God Give God Glory Worship Him who made everything Revelation 14:8 Announcement #2 - Judgement Doom of the antichrist system More about Babylon in 17 & 18 One world government & religion The system of the beast is doomed Fallen, Fallen = emphasis of certainty Before we read about God assures us it will fall Revelation 14:9-11 Announcement #3 - Condemnation For Those who follow the Beast Mark of the Beast declares you belong to the beast This is by far the strongest language in Scripture regarding damnation Eternal Judgment is basic Revelation 14:12-13 Announcement #4 - Blessing When you die in the Lord you are blessed For me to live is Christ, to die is gain Jesus The Harvester Revelation 14:14-20 Jesus The Harvester 1. Sitting On White Cloud - Purity Cloud = Glory Exodus = pillar of fire by day, cloud by night Transfiguartiobn - bright cloud Jess ascension - a cloud He returns on a cloud 2. Wearing a Golden Crown = Victory 3. Holding a Sharp Sickle - Authority Compare Two Advents Of Christ (graphic on TV screens) Parable of wheat and tares - angels help seperate Revelation 14:15 Ripe = XERAINO XERAINO = dried or withered Overripe In his mercy the Lord has delayed His judgement Christ moves patiently in His judgement He gives us time to repent 2nd Peter 3:3-9 says, "Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. 4 They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.” 5 But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water. 6 By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. 7 By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly. 8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." Jesus is not running to judge; he is patient in His judgement Get the Revelation of Jesus = His judgement which is coming, is patient and doused with prayer by Him who is our Great High Priest God is so merciful and gives us time to repent but there does come a day when His judgement is enacted Therefore let’s live the Gospel and proclaim the Gospel
