Battle of the Bulge: Parkers Crossroads,-The Battle at Faraque de Fraiture
This is a recording of from our Battle of the Bulge lecture series. It is presented as after action reports from the perspectives of the US and German commanders, portrayed by Museum of 20th Century Warfare volunteers, with visual aids in the way of maps and photos. This lecture covers the fighting that took place around Baraque de Fraiture and centered around the intersection known now as "Parker's Crossroads: where US troops new to combat were able to hold up the German advance despite being out numbered until they were forced to surrender or try to escape the area. The US commander is Captain George Huxel, the Assistant S-3 of the 589th Field Artillery Battalion, 106th Infantry Division and the German commander is SS Obersturmbannfuhrer Otto Weidinger, 4th SS Panzergrenadier, 2nd SS Panzerdivision, Das Reich.
