Meizu MYVU Air - Under $120 'AR' Glasses

At the risk of sounding like a Meizu shill, I am still amazed you can get these glasses for under $120 delivered - as an industry insider, just the cost of the optical components should be more than this consumer price point... That said, Meizu seems to be aggressively pursuing a customer base and with this price I don't see why people who are sitting on the fence about the utility of a display smartglass wouldn't try it out at least once. These won't be the best pair of glasses you can buy today, but with all the minimum features (minus a camera) included onboard including translation, teleprompting, audio playback and more, this is certainly a great starter kit. On the optics side, it's the first device I'm tearing down with a plastic waveguide - great for both the structural integrity post fat-thumb teardown, but also for explaining the pros and cons of this type of diffractive waveguide vs the glass ones we've seen so far. 0:00 Intro 1:47 Software 2:53 Comfort 4:02 Audio 4:35 Battery 6:35 Display 7:40 Optics 10:16 Hardware Teardown 12:50 Plastic Waveguide Details 15:43 Component Overview 18:13 Summary
