Tips For Installing A Lorex 1080 Video Doorbell

Installing a Lorex 1080 video doorbell. Put quite a bit of research into which doorbell to buy. Stupidly, it seems like a lot of video doorbells don't actually ring the doorbell already installed in your house. Umm, what? Why would you ever buy one like that. Some you have to buy a separate chime for inside your house so that you can hear it in your house. Anyway, many of them also require you to pay a monthly subscription fee for a cloud account to watch a simple live view of your door or to watch recorded events. I didn't want any of that mess so I looked around until I came across Lorex. I am extremely impressed with their doorbell so far. I have the 1080 resolution model. The device is hardwired using your existing wiring. It requires a 16V to 24V line. If yours is different this may not work. Mine was a simple 2 wire connection and a couple of screws. The Lorex doorbell does not require a monthly subscription. It records on an internal 32 Gb SD card or an external dvr system. You can watch live feed, record events and watch them back over Wifi without a subscription. That is awesome. And it works vety well so far. One issue I did run into was once I connected up the new doorbell, it did not ring the house doorbell initially. I checked it all over then I remembered that the doorbell won't work until the video app is installed and doorbell is activated. During set up it asked if I had a mechanical doorbell or electronic. I selected mechanical and once I finished app setup I was able to ring the original doorbell. I highly recommend Lorex!
