Located about 217 kilometers from the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka, Halti Beel spans roughly 40,000 acres, making it one of Bangladesh's largest and deepest wetlands. The waters reach depths of up to 12 meters during the monsoon season. While water levels recede in the dry season, Halti Beel remains never fully dries out, remaining a vibrant place year round. For the nearly 300,000 residents living around Halti Beel, everything in life is intertwined with this wetland. Fisheries, agriculture, and tourism drive the local economy. Among the locals is Zaynuddin Pramanik, a man who changes jobs with the seasons. Right now, at the height of the tourism season, he earns his livelihood ferrying visitors around Halti Beel, sharing the beauty of his world with them. Let’s spend a day with Zaynuddin and his family to understand how life here ebbs and flows with the waters. Though isolated by water for most of the year, the residents of Halti Beel find peace and purpose here, rewarded by the beauty of one of Bangladesh’s largest and most dynamic wetlands. Welcome to Halti Beel—a world where water shapes everything. We hope you enjoy our documentary! ©DreamersEye
