Steam Whistle Testing Using Compressor
After repairs and adjustments, several models and styles of steam and trolley whistles are tested using an air compressor and a test platform. Repeated testing is an essential step in making whistles ready to use before returning to service with steam. Whistles are from steam launches, 7.5” gauge and narrow gauge plantation/logging locomotives. Several examples of early automobile exhaust whistles are added. Safety gear included ear plugs and earmuffs.
