She was a relative of his friend, and at first glance she seemed just a strange, silent child. But when Keitaro looked into her face, orphans ran down his back. Yayoi had incredible, frightening eyes. Her pupils were shaped like skulls, which seemed to look straight into the soul, seeing all the darkness that surrounded the boy. Yayoi was not just a child. She was a brilliant girl with an IQ under 160, who, like Keitaro, saw ghosts. But if Keitaro was terrified of them, then Yayoi... she hunted them. There was a deathly silence in her room, diluted with a strange, barely audible rustling. The walls were hung with teddy bears. But these were not ordinary teddy bears. Each doll contained a imprisoned, crucified and suffering evil spirit inside, which Yayoi had caught with her loneliness. "My mother was taken by a ghost," Yayoi said quietly, without any emotion in her voice, looking at the shocked Keitaro with her skull eyes. “A huge, powerful, and hungry spirit. He tore her soul out of me right before my eyes during the accident.
