Verge Motorcycles TS: la prova della moto di Mika Häkkinen! @vergemotorcycles

We were in Monte Carlo for the inauguration of the first flagship store of Verge Motorcycles, the Finnish company founded in 2018, which has captured the attention of enthusiasts and industry insiders with the futuristic design of its motorcycles. The event was an opportunity to ride a TS Pro—the mid-range model, as we'll see shortly—and to discover the direct involvement of Mika Häkkinen, two-time Formula 1 champion with @McLaren, who was present with one of the 100 examples of the version dedicated to him. The motorcycle we tested is available in three variants: TS, TS Pro, and TS Ultra. What makes this product absolutely innovative is the choice to use an electric motor installed inside the rear wheel. The cables from the battery run directly to the wheel, allowing for less energy absorption and a truly unique riding experience. The TS Pro boasts impressive numbers on paper: 1,000 Newton meters of peak torque, 137 horsepower, a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 3.5 seconds, and a maximum range of 350 km. It also offers the option of DC charging in just 35 minutes. The battery pack has a capacity of 20.2 kWh, and it weighs 245 kg. The availability of such a high nominal torque value is, in reality, the result of the system used to measure these values. Torque is, in fact, a figure derived from the ratio between power and angular velocity. Normally, this value is measured at the crankshaft, but on the Verge, since there is no actual driveshaft, this value is measured at the wheel. This circumstance means that the angular velocity measured by sensors is significantly higher for an object with a diameter like a wheel, compared to a driveshaft, causing the nominal value returned by the machines to skyrocket. This is, therefore, a figure that should be taken with a pinch of salt, which gives the impression of a very large size, but should not be taken literally. The version dedicated to Mika Häkkinen features special details, such as a carbon frame on the side, other carbon elements that enhance its exclusivity, a leather seat, and a two-tone look that differentiates it from the standard versions. In addition to the Pro version, there is also the base version with 108 horsepower and 700 Newton meters of torque, and the Ultra version with 1,200 Newton meters of torque and over 200 horsepower. Prices range from €33,000 for the base version to €55,000 for the Ultra version. The Verge Motorcycles TS is, in short, first and foremost a luxury item, built with highly sophisticated technical solutions and positioned on the market in a way that is appropriate for the location where the first flagship store was opened to market it live. Okay, but how does it perform on the road? In our video, we show you our riding experience and our first impressions.
