Does the Ghost of Victorian Actor William Terriss Still Haunt Covent Garden?
William Terriss was a prominent British actor in the late 19th century, known for his performances in Shakespearean and popular plays. He was charismatic and beloved by audiences. However, his life ended tragically when he was murdered by Richard Archer Prince, a struggling actor with whom Terriss had a contentious relationship. On December 16, 1897, outside the Adelphi Theatre in London, Prince fatally stabbed Terriss. Prince, who claimed insanity, was later committed to an asylum. Terriss' death shocked the public, as he was a major theatrical figure. His ghost is said to haunt the Adelphi Theatre to this day, adding to his tragic legacy.
