The 1,800-capacity Rex Jim Lawson Cultural Centre located at Bonny Street, Port Harcourt Township is about to witness some serious upgrades as Governor Siminalayi Fubara rolled up his sleeves on Monday, taking a firsthand look at two major projects that will bring life back to key areas of Rivers State. First on his list? The 6.5km Woji-Aleto-Alesa-Refinery Road, which includes a 200m bridge and aims to provide much-needed relief to commuters. With parts of the East-West Road practically begging for repair, this new route promises to be a game-changer. Then came a stop at the long-neglected Rex Lawson Cultural Centre. Rehabilitated by the previous administration but left to gather dust, this iconic arts facility will soon be thriving again. Governor Fubara, speaking to newsmen during the inspection, highlighted his vision to transform the centre into a vibrant arts training school for Rivers youth and revealed plans to give the facility new life. Accompanying the governor on this inspection were the Commissioner for Special Projects, Dr. Roland Obed Whyte, and the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon.
