The Mommsens are jolted awake: Burglars? On the ground floor, the elderly man encounters his murderer. Three shots ring out. They are heard not only by the victim's wife, but also by Mr. Kuhlmann, a neighbor returning home. So too is student Ullrich Bonte, who is blocking Kuhlmann's garage entrance with his car.
