Cycling the Monsal trail

With a length of 8 1/2 miles, the beautiful Monsal trail opened in 1981. Once a railway, which opened in 1863 by Midland railway, reminders still remain of this fascinating route, with six tunnels and the incredible Headstone viaduct! It’s a fairly flat route with some amazing views of the Peak District from all angles, making this a brilliant trail for all to enjoy. Whether it’s cycling, jogging, walking or even horse riding, it’s a great idea for a day out in this wonderful national park!
