“Een campus vol angst” – wat is er gebeurd op Nederlandse universiteiten?

In this first episode of a three-part series, presenter Smadar Morag speaks with historian Amanda Kluveld and political scientist Elia Sapir about the changed climate at Dutch universities for Jewish and Israeli students since October 7, 2023. Their research shows that many Jewish and Israeli students feel unsafe on campus, particularly during anti-Israeli protests. There is increasing fear of speaking freely, social isolation, and pressure to conceal one's own identity. The speakers express concerns about the influence of radical organizations on campus protests and the lack of support from university boards. According to them, the university is shifting from a place for open debate to an institution primarily concerned with reputation management rather than student protection.
