Full weekend of gem mining at Propst Farm (ft. my best find yet!)

In our two years of mining at Propst Farm, I feel pretty confident calling this our best trip yet. We dug in an incredible ruby & sapphire pocket, and even found some killer surface gems before we ever picked up a shovel. One of my favorite finds of the day (and possibly ever) was a chunky ruby/sapphire cluster with kyanite growing out of two of the sides. (Skip to 11:25 to see that insane surface find.) If you’re into gem mining in North Carolina, or just like seeing what kind of rubies and sapphires you can actually find out in the wild, this one will be a good watch. No salted buckets, no filler — just raw gems straight from the ground. As it should be.
