My mate Paul Read, better known in the Australian 40 Series community as MrLandcruiser, asked me to take a look at his 35 year old HJ47 series as he was having some real issues with the 'original' electrics. Once we got into the job, it was pretty easy to see why he was having issues. There was exposed wiring, degraded connections and general mess all over the place. We decided to go for a partial replacement of the main loom and complete replacement of the rear loom, as well as reworking the setup of the accessories and a full clean out of the wiring in the engine bay. This truck still has some mechanical work to be done before she is in tip-top shape, but the wiring should be good for another 30 years.
