Her novels are filled with characters, intense drama and passion, and surprising magic. The author was born in Kentucky, studied political science, and holds a doctorate in analyzing the causes of conflict, violence, and methods for building lasting peace. Her specialization is African politics and she lived for a time in Malawi. Today, she is a full-time writer and bestselling author and lives with her family in the Pacific Northwest.
