Pinned Under Water at Go Left During the Green River Narrows Race, 2023-11-04
Whitewater Kayaking The 28th Annual Green River Narrows Race Gauge: 12" Go Left and Die This week during practice laps there were at least 4 pins in Go Left, one of which required a tethered rescue to get the paddler out of the rapid. The Go Left race safety team was prepared for a flat pin, but the way it happened while we were not set up due to a prior pin at the entry was a surprise. Luckily, the racer was able to wet exit on his own, and he swam to shore shortly after getting out of his boat. With the way the log at the Go Left entry has shifted, the rapid has definitely changed its character in a way that seems to have increased the probability of a serious pin.
