Reiko had only two provincial seasons with Auckland, a one-off Super Rugby stint with the Blues, and two World Sevens Series circuits, including an Olympics campaign, with the All Blacks Sevens under his belt at the time. Young, tremendously quick, and a renowned try-scoring machine, it was evident the youngster's potential was huge, but he remained virtually untapped as an international prospect after only a couple of cameo appearances in Europe against Italy and France.
