The inspector expects a clear demonstration of your awareness of the specific risks associated with heavy vehicles. In this video, we break down the maneuver into 3 steps (Before, During, After): PRECAUTIONS BEFORE THE VEHICLE 🛣️: Regulations: Reminder of overtaking prohibitions (signs, road markings) and especially the prohibition of using the third lane on the motorway (for vehicles over 7m or 3.5T GVWR). Space calculation: Understanding the necessary clearance (longer deceleration, slower acceleration). DANGERS IN A DEPASSING ⚠️: The wind/suction effect: How to react to crosswinds (deflection) when passing or overtaking. Blind spots: The importance of mirrors and vigilance before pulling back into your lane. The risk of a collision due to misjudging speeds. RAPID & EASY OVERHEAD PROCEDURES: The 50-meter rule: What is the minimum distance (50 meters!) you must leave before pulling back into your lane for a vehicle longer than 7 meters or weighing over 3.5 tons? Being overtaken: What is the correct procedure (maintain your speed, move to the right)?
