Why do bipolar people often quit medication? #mythoughts #bipolar1

Why do so many people with bipolar disorder stop taking their medication? In this video, I’m talking about some of the reasons bipolar people are often known to quit their meds, including difficult side effects, missing the feeling of hypomania or mania, financial barriers, trouble accessing treatment, feeling “better” and thinking medication is no longer needed, and more. I also want to be clear that I don’t believe every person with bipolar disorder must be medicated forever. Some people are able to manage their symptoms without medication, while others find medication to be an important part of staying stable. Everyone’s situation is different. This video isn’t medical advice. It’s a discussion based on my own experiences living with bipolar disorder and observations from the bipolar community. My goal is to explore a topic that many people struggle with but don’t always talk about openly. Have you ever stopped a medication? What were your reasons? Feel free to share your experience respectfully in the comments. #BipolarDisorder #MentalHealth #BipolarAwareness #MentalHealthDiscussion #Psychiatry #MoodDisorders #LivingWithBipolar #MentalHealthJourney
