The first (and perhaps most important item) is a wireless #microphone. We recommend the #Shure brand because they perform well, but any wireless mic will do. A wireless mic allows you (the host) to engage with guests and be among them, rather than sitting at the front of the room, fixed in place by a wire. The second piece of equipment you'll need is a sound board. A sound board makes sure that you have sound coming into the board and sound going ou t, where you want it. There are channel options for your mic, music, and output areas like speakers. If a venue has their own house speaker system, that's even better! Don't have a house system?
